Life On Land

The three interrelated principles of sustainable development are economic viability, environmental protection and social equity. Our programs at Child Help Foundation are based on one or more of the above principles at all times. Environment protection is both a cross cutting theme, as well as a vertical in itself in Child Help Foundation. Besides concern for existing vegetation, providing clean drinking water, introducing solar power, we are also involved in 2 separate projects that benefit the environment. Our Life on Land project which draws its name from SDG 15, focuses on working with Stray animals. Our Life below Water, also draws from the SDG 14 commitment to promote a healthy environment, by preventing the pollution and depletion of our water resources.

In support of SDG 15: Life on earth, Child Help Foundation doesn’t only limit itself to saving and helping humankind. The infrastructural development in urban and semi-urban areas has negatively impacted the lives of many species, making them dependent on human beings for their survival and well being. In India particularly stray dogs and cats are a common sight. The animals are both vulnerable to disease and death, and are also responsible for the spread of disease. During the pandemic strays went hungry for days and were susceptible to various kinds of diseases. They struggled to find food and water to survive, as the people who fed them couldn't leave their houses, and even garbage dumps were partially empty.

Inclusive, Good Quality Education is a foundation for dynamic and equitable societies.

- Desmond Tutu

Understanding the depth of this situation, the Child Help Foundation, in partnership with ‘Street Animals’, began feeding stray animals in the Mira Bhayandar stretch in Thane District. In the year 2019-20, the Child Help Foundation started this new initiative to become the 'Voice Of Voiceless' animals and started feeding stray animals. The feeding program hopes to lessen the human-animal conflict and provide nutritious food to animals.

Our animal feeding program will soon extend to rescuing abandoned animals, getting them neutered, providing shelter and food. To date, we have been successful in feeding 54,472 stray dogs, cats, and birds.
